In poor condition. As is. Vol. 24: Heavy scuffing to edges of cloth boards & corners bumped. Tail of spine beginning to split at front hinge - binding exposed. Gilt lettering and illustration bright and clean. All gilt edges rubbed & soiled. Title label on spine lacking. Both gutters split - binding mesh exposed. Ex-library plate on front paste-down: Hamilton Public Library. Fold-out, title page, engraving index, and 1 pp all detached from binding, but still included. Toning and foxing throughout text-block. No known marginalia. Instance of finger soiling and age-staining. Binding is intact, but very fragile. No issues missing. Please see photos. Vol. 25: Front board completely detached from binding. 3/4 leather boards are scuffed at edges & worn at leather corners. Head and tail of spine heavily rubbed. Gilt lettering on spine chipped, but still legible. Ex-library sticker on tail of spine. Generally soiling to both boards. Ex-library plate on front paste-down: Hamilton Police Library. Previous ownership signature, gift inscription, and blind stamp found on front end-page. Ownership signature (in pencil) found at top of every new issue. Toning and foxing throughout text-block. Fold-out engraving between 516-7 pp is heavily torn, chipped, and covered in repair tape. Still mostly intact, but poor condition nonetheless. Many instances of torn pages. Binding is intact, but fragile. Please see photos. ***ATTENTION: Vol. 25 is missing issue numbers 692, 693, 694, and 695 - between Saturday, July 8, 1854 and Saturday, August 5, 1854. Vol. 25 is also missing a full-page map between 500-1 pp. Two volumes encompassing the entirety of the year 1854. Weekly issues from January to December, including a Census from 1851. Many engravings on the Crimean War - including maps and illustrations. Some other engravings include: Egyptian Vessels, Steam ships, Fox-hunting, French military barracks, Westminster Plays, Crystal Palace, Chinese Military Despatch, Russian peasants, War with Russia, Slavery in America, and Woodstock Infant schools.
