Description: Remarkable ORIGINAL Austrian ceramic lamp from the 1940s Art Deco movement. Created by the Wiener Werkstatte workshop, i picked it up at a designer's estate sale recently. The Wiener Werkstätte was established in 1903 by the graphic designer and painter Koloman Moser, the architect Josef Hoffmann and the patron Fritz Waerndorfer, and was a productive association in Vienna, Austria that brought together architects, artists, designers and artisans working in ceramics, fashion, silver, furniture and the graphic arts. The Workshop was dedicated to the artistic production of utilitarian items in a wide range of media, including metalwork, leatherwork, bookbinding, woodworking, ceramics, postcards and graphic art, and jewelry. This piece was designed by Vally Wieselthier, and I have only seen one other of these on the web, selling for $1200 or so. Payment is expected within two days of purchase.
