Description: 1948 Dublin Horse Show Poster Olive Whitmore Equestrian Jumping Ireland Vintage Date: 1948 Artist: Whitmore, Olive Size (in): 40” x 25” Size (cm): 101.6 x 63.5 Condition: B- Linen backed: Yes This vintage original poster by Olive Whitmore advertises the 1948 Dublin Horse Show in Dublin, Ireland. This same poster design with slight variations including overprinting of airline names was used to advertise the Dublin Horse Show for several years beginning in the 1930s. For this poster Whitmore renders an image of a white horse with rider jumping over an outline of Ireland with text that reads: DUBLIN HORSE SHOW August 24, 25, 26, 27 & 28, 1948. Great International Military and Civil Horse Jumping Contest Whitmore’s name is signed in print in the image area and the bottom of the poster is printed “Royal Dublin Society” and “Ball’s Bridge Dublin”. The lower margin indicates this poster was printed in Ireland by Alex Thom & Co. Ltd of Dublin. This vintage original poster has been professionally backed to linen with some touchup and small repair as needed. The poster was issued folded originally and the original fold lines show slightly after the linen backing. The original user of the poster had applied a TWA airline luggage label near the upper left corner which was removed when the poster was linen backed. Some creasing and few short tears were mitigated during the linen backing process. The poster displays nicely and overall condition is very good.
