Description: This auction is for a month of receipts from the Pavlus Tavern which was located in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. The tavern was located at 1942 S. Carpenter Street in Chicago. The owner would staple all his bill receipts for the month together. These are his receipts for April, 1955. I removed the two staples and there are 40 receipts for all the merchandise the tavern bought that month: beers, liquors, potato chips, soda, juices, etc. There are receipts from these companies/products: (3) Schoenhofen Edelweiss Company, (7) Pilsen Brewing Company (From the receipts it looks like Pilsen was the beer of choice at this tavern), (2) Anheuser Busch, (2) Peter Hand Brewery, (4) Terminal Distributors (Hamms), (3) Morgen, Inc (Schlitz Beer), (4) Mrs. Vitner's Potato Chips, (1) Vana Inc (soda), (3) Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Chicago, (4) Boden Juices, (1) Chicago Seven-Up Bottling Co, (1) Chicago Squirt Bottling Co, (2) A. Fantozzi Co (Monte Carlo Muscatel),(1) Garfield Distributors (Pabst Blue Ribbon), (1) Old Castle Distributors (Amb Port), (1) Cornell Distributing Co (Liquor - Sunny Yellow). The receipts are in good condition - they are yellowed with age - the have two staple holes from when they were all stapled together - a couple have stains - a few have some tears/creasing from being folded.
