Description: For your consideration is a vintage, 1976, Pfaltzgraff USA Large 14" Oval Serving Platter. The pattern is Village, the item number is 6-16 with a Castle Stamp and the description is brown design on cream. Barely used, Nice! It’s warm earth tones of the 70's inspired this interpretation of historic Pfaltzgraff platter. Village dinnerware has a classic Early American look that has remained popular for many years, and continues as a strong decorating style today. MEASUREMENTS: The platter is approx 14 inches long, 10 inches wide, and 1 ½ inches tall CONDITION: Pre Owned LIKE NEW. We can find no chips, cracks, crazing or any damage what so ever. There are some use marks on the bottom from sitting on tables. Village — Introduced in 1976 (the year of America's bicentennial), Pfaltzgraff Village features a charming Early American-style design rendered in dark brown against a light brown background. The warm earth tones of the 1970's brought this interpretation of the early Pfaltzgraff platters. It has a classic Early American look that has remained popular for many years, and continues as a strong decorating style today. An American tradition since 1811, Pfaltzgraff traces its roots to George "Falsgraff" who founded a pottery in early 19th Century York, PA. The pottery name was variously spelled as Faltzgraf, Palzgrof, and even Voltzgraff to name just a few examples. Yet no matter how "Pfaltzgraff" was spelled (or pronounced), for the last 200 years it has meant quality, durability, and beauty. However, Pfaltzgraff dishes are not made at the Pennsylvania factory anymore. They are now made in China and the quality and craftsmanship of the venerable York, PA factory did not transfer to the Chinese factory.
