1991 GT Zaskar | Ball Burnished | 19.5" C-T | Force 40 Chromoly Fork

Description: If they could only talk... Here we have a genuine 1991 (as indicated on the left side dropout stamping) GT Zaskar, the first year of production, with one deep, dark secret. Ok, so it's not a secret, you can see pretty obviously the "weight reduction" done to this frame. The holes I see are very, very carefully drilled and very clean. This was not some teenager with his dad's drill going to town. These appear to be to be professionally done. That said... The frame itself is in remarkable shape with no major dents or dings. The ZASKAR decals are clear and bright. There is some discoloration from where the front mech was installed, but that's pretty routine. There is some light chainsuck damage, nothing serious. The rest of the frame really is pretty decent. The Force 40 chromoly fork is not original but correct for the bike, and the same can be said for the Onza Mongo II headset. The stem shown is included. (If you don't want or need the fork, headset and stem, message me, I'll reduce the price.) There is a Ringle seat post clamp, a nice addition, though the signature red is a bit faded. The chainstay has its share of marks but has held up remarkably well. The bottom bracket spins just fine actually. I see no signs a kickstand was ever installed. The frame takes a 28.6 mm seat post I measure this frame to be 22.5" center to top of seat tube, 19.5" center to center of top tube, and the top tube itself looks to be 22.75". 135 mm rear spacing. Everything is straight and solid. It's ready for you to give a little love - and build up! I have to use new cardboard boxes from Amazon ($8-$12 each) because my local bike shops can't always provide me with boxes in the sizes I need. Smaller frames ship with forks removed (if present), rear triangle blocked with wood, and lots, lots, LOTS of crumpled up newspaper to ensure the frame doesn't move around inside. Larger frames also ship with the rear triangle blocked with wood, and with any fork still attached. I use cardboard bracing in several key spots (front and rear brake bosses, bottom bracket, rear dropouts) along with heavy-duty zip ties to ensure the frame does not move around once the box is closed.
