Description: Here we have a set of two gorgeous menus -- one signed -- from Les Crayeres (Reims, France) from the early 1990s, when, under the renowned chef Gerard Boyer (b. 1941) it had a Michelin 3-star rating. Included is a smaller (9.5" x 7.25") dessert menu, with the heading (translated from the French) "The Delights of Marjorie and Judicaelle," as well as the much larger (14.3" x 10.9") complete dinner menu, signed with a personal greeting, "Elyane & Gerard Boyer," presumably by Elyane, Gerard's partner and wife, who often greeted and visited with guest in the bar and dining area. It is possible that Gerard, who once told the New York Times that the most important culinary necessity with which he travels was his wife, may have signed it, putting her name before his. Both menus are undated, but known to be from the early 1990s, and feature the same colorful impressionist watercolor landscape by Lemeret. Condition of both is pristine, with only the lightest possible surface wear. We have lots of rare and interesting menus and other ephemera in our store, to which we add new inventory daily, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost. If the eBay checkout fails to properly combine your orders, we will issue a refund for the difference between what you paid to ship items separately and the actual cost of the combined shipping, on the day that we ship your package. (We don't find out the actual cost of combined shipping until we purchase the shipping label.) Provenance: From the estate of the Lake Bluff, Illinois, entrepreneur and epicurean, Othon Ochsner (1934-2017) who had a passion for collecting fine wines, cookbooks and restaurant menus from his travels around the world. Besides being the president and CEO of Ochsner International, and the managing director of Ochsner Auto and Bike Museum, Ochsner Object d' Art Gallery, and Ochsner Cook Book Library, he belonged to the Ordre Des Canardiers, a French organization dedicated to the preservation of French culinary traditions; and Les Amis d' Escoffer Society, which describes itself as "the nation's foremost fraternity of dedicated gastronomes.... with a membership consisting of chefs de cuisine, hotel executives, restauranteurs, and business executives who gather monthly for epicurean meals." Rest assured that we will do all we can to ensure that your piece of ephemera arrives exactly as presented in our photos. We invest time and appropriate materials into shipping all of our ephemera, and we provide tracking on all shipments. All pieces are sent in rigid mailers or envelopes that are sandwiched between cardboard before being sent as first-class parcels in non-bendable mailers, which ship at rates much higher than first-class letters. We never toss our ephemera into thin stationery envelopes with forever stamps stuck to them expecting the USPS to deliver them to you with great care. And we ship everything fully insured. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us. The Fine Print: We expect payment within 1 day of purchase. If you're waiting for other auctions to end so that you can combine shipping, shoot us a message to let us know.If you're unable to pay within terms, please reach out with your Plan B. Things happen. Especially these days. So just shoot us a message. We don't accept buyer-remorse returns but we will grant you the use of our description and photos so that you can re-ebay the item yourself.Although we don't accept buyer-remorse returns, reach out if you're unhappy with your purchase! If we messed up -- everybody does -- give us a chance to fix it. We promise it was unintentional, and we'll do what we can to make it right.
