He is canoeing down a river carrying gifts for some lucky little ones in a lonely village somewhere downstream. Dressed in period correct warm red wool sweater and full length heavy fabric coat with rolled cloth fringe attached by wide heavy cladding of red, yellow, and green triangular darts running smartly across the back of the coat and sleeves at the wrist. There is white fur attached to the coat at the lapels and wrists, a very cozy look. Santa has a huge white fur hat to keep his head warm and protected as his oar guides him down the river. A sprig of holly and berries decorate atop to commemorate Christmas. FRONTIER CHEER’s quarry is the wrapped presents and large green satchel full of presents that are safely strapped to his canoe. Alongside is his red provisions package securely wrapped. His beard is frosted from his breath freezing on it during his efforts on the water. Even Santa’s canoe is colorfully wrapped in red lashing so all is well kept. This is a beautiful scene from yesteryear to remind us of the efforts involved to create a festive Christmas for all the children. Even then, the simplest of gifts meant so much to those that didn’t have much. FRONTIER CHEER reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas and the efforts that are required.
