Services include subway, bus, and "elevated" ("L") railroad trains. The CTA was formed in 1947 to consolidate various private and public transport companies into one entity which could coordinate better the services. It today is one of the largest such systems in the world. For auction is a "Bus & Rail Map" dated June 2014. It measures appx 8x4 inches folded and opens to appx 32x24 inches. It is printed on a medium-weight semi-glossy paperstock. There are actually three maps displaying different aspects of the route system: (a) One map shows metro Chicago from Linden in the north to Riverdale in the south, and from Lake Michigan in the east to O'Hare Airport in the west. (b) The second map displays downtown Chicago from Division Street in the north to Roosevelt Avenue in the south, and from Lake Michigan in the east to Halstead Street in the west. (c) The third map is an overview of the entire rail system. The maps show CTA and bus routes; CTA trains and stations; and Metra commuter rail lines and stations. Also noted are points of interest, colleges and universities, and street names. Small inset maps show routes of rush hour buses from downtown Metra stations and routes for special events at sports venues. All bus routes are identified by route number, with service frequencies.
