Description: The things I've collected over the years have been because I LOVE history. My heart's desire is to preserve this historic pieces. Back in the day, companies recognized and rewarded years of service. The large companies enjoyed more loyalty because they had the benefits and pay to keep employees. Grocery Stores were usually not at that level, which makes these even more rare and historically significant. A little history for those not familiar with the famous "rooster" logo and supermarket:L.W. Rogers began a grocery store empire in 1901 and contributed to the fabric of our country by offering "self-service" where they were previously counter service grocers. We call them grocery stores today, but they used to be called SUPERMARKETS. Around 1947, they introduced the Rooster Logo. Beginning around the 1970s, there were financial issues, mergers, and buy-outs. In North Carolina (where I live), Harris Teeter bought the stores. To this day, Harris Teeter is known to treat employees well (as far as grocery stores go). There are 3 pins (one of them can double as a tie tack as it includes both a regular back and one with a chain. The years of service are not noted, but colors are used. There is no way I could even guess what each color signifies (as far as years service is concerned). Please see pictures for metal content. I will try to get very good resolution. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT GOLD CONTENT AND CANNOT DISCERN FROM PICTURES, PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS. I'll be happy to answer. I do NOT acquire for melt down, I have worked hard to preserve these historic pieces. I know with the price of gold so high these days, it is tempting to melt...but I am pricing in an effort to discourage such action. I want these to be preserved.
