31st Infantry Division White Back Patch WWII Vintage Philippines Pacific

Description: The Patch: This Auction is for 1 WWII Vintage 31st Infantry Division shoulder patch with a white back. This patch is in good condition. It has a nice white back. This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic. The History: The 31st Infantry Division was made up of units from the Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi National Guard units. The 31st was federalized on November 25, 1940 and participated in maneuvers in 1941 and 1943. It embarked for the Pacific Theater in March of 1944 and received additional training in New Guinea. In July of 1944 the 124th Infantry Regiment assisted the 163rd Regimental Combat Team on the northern coast of New Guinea. The regiment landed East of the Drinumor River and helped kill 3,000 soldiers of the Japanese 15th Army. The remaining elements of the Division relieved the 6th Infantry Division near Wakde. The division made several other small landings in the Spice Islands. On April 22nd, 1945, the 31st landed on Mindanao in the Philippine Islands. They advanced north along Highway 3 and captured the airfield at Valencia on May 18th. They continued fighting on Mindanao and accepted the surrender of all Japanese forces on the island on August 15, 1945. Please read my auction requirements.
