The couplers will couple with any existing coupler (e.g. Kato, Micro Trains, Athearn, Bachmann) since they are universal (see photos). They can replace body-mounted and truck-mounted couplers as long as the mounts have a screw and plate (see photos). NOTE: Since there is no hinge, you can't couple them simply by backing one car into the other. You simply slightly lift up each car and couple it manually. However, since they have no hinge, the couplers won’t come uncoupled even on the bumpiest layouts or steepest grades. These are one-of-a-kind and unique hingeless couplers. Once you replace your hinged couplers with our couplers you can easily connect them to a Kato car or engine without issue. However, it cannot be used to directly replace couplers on Kato cars and engines since those couplers have a spring design with no screw or plate.
