Dated to the 14th century (1388 AD) The text is written from right to left in old Persian Farsi LanguageThe Persian physician Manṣūr ibn Muḥammad ibn Ilyās, active around 1384, came from a family of physicians and intellectuals living in the city of Shiraz, in present-day Iran. Tashrīḥ-i badan-i insān (The Anatomy of the Human Body), usually titled Tashrīḥ-i Manṣūrī (Anatomy of Manṣūr), is his best known work. It contains the oldest surviving illustrations of the Islamic anatomy of the entire human body. These include page-sized characters, drawn in pen and ink with different colors of ink. The treatise consists of an introduction, followed by chapters on bones, nerves, muscles, veins and arteries.
