Description: Nifty WW II Era Art Deco Automatic Electric Model AE40 MONOPHONE ROTARY DIAL TELEPHONE in Classic lack & Chrome, circa 1940'sGenerally Very Good Condition with wear as shown in picturesApprox: 9" W (handset) x 8.25" D (base) x 5.5 W (base) x 5.25" HighLeft as found, all original from what we can seeJust Reduced! Great Art Deco Black & Chrome rotary dial phone with great vintage 1930's-40's pop! These have always been popular with collectors as the phone has such a great look, but they became more so after the phone had a cameo appearance in the "Matrix" films. This model was made from 1938-1951 in various colors, some with chrome elements and some not. We are estimating this is an early 1940's model based on some of the markings and the Monochrome label on bottom, but that is our best guess. The phone is Bakelite with a metal bottom. It has the nice chrome dial and chrome top plate adding to its appeal. It is in very good condition, but has some vintage wear as shown in pictures. The interior components of the phone look very nice as shown in pictures & even schematic wiring diagram inside survived in pretty good shape. The four prong rubber coated wall cord is in good shape, as is the curly headset cord. The rubber seal around bottom has aged and dried a bit as shown in pictures, but the rest looks really nice. We only did a quick phone wire touch test as this phone will not work with modern systems without an adapter of some type. We did hear a slight tone when tested but since this is original, we could not pick up a full dial tone. Since this phone is original it will most likely not work on most modern phone systems. We cannot guarantee the phone's adaptability to your location, so please do your own research as we cannot offer returns. We always leave original items as we find them. We took a lot of pictures and you can use zoom if needed. Please Read: See our Feedback & Buy with confidence. We ship with extreme care and all items are fully insured! We often take from 30-90 minutes packing more delicate & odd sized items to make sure your treasure is protected. We also photograph most items above $100 while packing in case a shipper were to ever damage an item (only one time in over 2,000 US shipped sales). For this reason, if an item is ever damaged, it will be the Buyer's responsibility to file a claim with the shipping service and we can provide photos from packing to assist Buyers. The process is not difficult, but the timing of such does not allow adequate time for the item to be returned to us and then for us to proceed with a claim (chain of custody questions can arise as well on returned items due to double shipping and handling so it is just easier for Buyers). So again, as noted in listing, we do not offer returns. Sales tax is charged according to your state or country's regulations. Of course, there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through. We do this often. Signature confirmation will be required if your item is above $100 so please plan accordingly. We can make an exception if you do not want a signature confirmation, but keep in mind if an item is delivered & goes missing from your porch, mail box or other prior to you retrieving the item, shippers will not cover it and you would have to assume the risk. Also, FedEx & Others are beginning to require signature on items above $500-$700. Last, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order.
