Description: This is an elegant antique Dresser, or Vanity, Perfume Tray. It is made of solid Brass with what appears to be fine crochet brass wire lace. It has an embroidered floral group of roses in the center. The lace and floral embroidery are sandwiched between an oval of glass and a black silk like fabric. When we found it, the underneath wood support was damaged and we replaced it with heavy art mat board. A ring of woven brass holds the tray portion in place with brass tabs, visible in the photos. It is medium sized, measuring 14 inches between the Cherubs heads. From the bottom of the feet to the top of the tray rim, it is 2.25 inches. The oval glass covered portion is 9.5 x 7 inches and the tray weighs one pound, 15 ounces. We have no information on the Tray's maker or previous owners. We have spent a great deal of time, without success, trying to find another tray even similar to this one. It is so elegant and unusual. The brass rim is fairly thick with intricate patterning. The Tray feet have a face, the cherubs are quite detailed. Most unique of all is the fine brass wire which at first glance appears to be lace. Photos show it out of the frame and it is actually kind of stiff. The embroidery is quite fine, possibly done by hand, possibly by machine then woven into the wire lace. The brass was cleaned with mild soap and water, leaving the patina as we found it. A new owner may wish to use a brass polish on it. We invite any information you might have on its origin. Anyway, pricing is also a total guess. Shipping will be very reasonable and we accept returns for any reason within 30 days.
