Description: This is an antique chromolithograph print titled 'En Sommernat ved Christiania fjorden' depicting Norwegian fishermen drawing their nets on a quiet lake as the sun sets. It is one chromolithograph from the series of 32 from the book titled "Billeder af norges natur og folkeliv" (pictures of Norwegian nature and folk life) which was published by H. Tonsberg in Christiania (Oslo) in 1875. The first edition was printed by Winckelmann in Berlin. The reverse with an attached page with a poetic description of the scene in Norwegian, German and English. With a ruled lined decorative border mounted and framed in a traditional frame. With some age toning and abrasions to the frame but looks to be in good condition overall. From a book with 32 mounted chromolithographs by Winckelmann in Berlin - each with a descriptive page in three languages (English, Norwegian and German). Datable to 1875. There is printing below the image at the lower left H. Gude del. (the painter) and in the center Published by Chr. Tonsberg. And at lower right "lith (lithograph) of Winckelmann & Sonner in Berlin".As a value I would suggest an estimate of $125 - $175 at retail for an antique framed chromolithograph print taken from the book. From a professional appraisal. Size is 11 inches by 13 inches. See photos for condition 6
