Description: This is in nice used condition with no cracks or chips. You will see numerous light marks and such. It's hard to say what might be utensil marks, and what is from the raw crafting process in the 1800's. This has the typical areas, where you can feel where the glass was joined (seams), and it has shear lines aka Straw Marks. It's not damaged; it's from the crafting process. They used room temperature metal shears for snipping the 2,000 degree glass (imagine cutting taffy). It forces the glass to cool slightly there, and it puckers and pulls together at the snip spot. That cool spot is still on the glass as it falls into the mold, and can sometimes form a "shear Mark" that is usually less than 3 inches. I realize most glass collectors already know to expect this with vintage glass; I don't want anyone surprised, and I love to understand things myself. To view imperfections as beautiful proof of an item's age, and their individual story. This will be shipped worries free, since it will be double boxed with biodegradable peanuts and padding where needed. I will upgrade shipping for free, if I see there is a faster affordable option for the buyer's location. Please contact me prior to purchasing, if you prefer a specific company.
