Description: Truly exceptional, VERY large academic drawing, part of a set of academic drawings by the same artist I recently acquired drawn somewhere between 1910 and 1925 by the same artist based on what were live figure models. This one is that of a man, seated on a footstool hold an orb (a commonly used prop during drawing exercises to test shading skills); executed entirely in charcoals. Very high quality and great condition for the age. While the drawings were acquired on the East coast of the US, it is unclear where they were actually drawn - it could have easily been the US or Continental Europe. Based on the paper used, it was probably drawn in the US, but this is pure speculation. There are a few very slight tears in the margins and some pin holes on the very top and the corners likely from being hung while being drawn and/or displayed through the years, but the work itself is in excellent condition. There is significant contrast and depth in the image itself. This piece will look amazing framed. I have several other works by this artist at this scale, please check my other listings for details. Dimensions are 27" wide x 39" wide on Strathmore paper, marked in the top left corner. Item has been carefully rolled in archival glassine for storage and shipping. Will ship in a tube. Will require signature on delivery due to value. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
