Description: Lovely antique pink lusterware demitasse cup and saucer set marked "Leuchtenburg Germany." It is hard to find information about this mark, including whether it is just the region of Germany or possibly a manufacturer as well, but I would date this set to around the turn of the 20th century. It has an adorable gold decoration of children with St. Nick and the words "Merry Christmas" on a white ground with pink trim and a luster glaze. The dainty cup measures 2" tall and 2" in diameter across the opening, and the saucer measures 4 1/2" in diameter. Both pieces are in very good condition....there is a very tiny hairline on the edge of the saucer which is difficult to even see underneath the pink (see closeup photos), and the pink is sort of mottled with missing areas of dye, which is normal for this type of lusterware. There is also one black freckle on the back foot. Beautiful set to add to an antique cup and saucer collection!
