Description: A beautifully designed and symbolic piece from Royal Worcester. The main subject of this bud vase are the two gold cranes. Considered the bird of happiness in Japan, and a symbol of good luck and longevity. They look off into opposite directions, probably distracted by the rest of the design consisting of a golden tree and bird flying overhead. The ring around the base has a gold and bronze two tone pattern, as does the design that sits above it and just under the lip where the base expands out. There is a reddish tint used to outline and highlight the raised gold gilt design. A perfect contrast to the porcelain white background. The vase measures 6” high. The opening has a diameter of 2” and the base has a diameter of 3 1/8”. The max width is 4.5”. The maker mark is green. It has the letter P outside the circle signifying it was made in 1879. There is what looks to be a 44 in gold as well as 605 inscribed along the bottom base. Very good preowned condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. Some fading on the gold gilt in certain spots, most notably along the top ring, but nothing of great significance. Will be carefully wrapped and packaged. A very rare and old piece with a lovely symbolic meaning. Thanks
