Description: This is a rare and magnificent late 19th Century piece. The pinchbeck pendant was originally a belt buckle, converted back in the turn of the century into a pendant. The pinchbeck alloy looks like gold but is lighter. It has a heart design, with wonderful repousee motifs around the frame: swags, lotuses, Papyrus flowers, rosettes and scrolls. The center has a wonderful mesh / openwork grid. At each corner is a huge, bezel set genuine natural amethyst cabochon (approx. 40 ct tw). The link chain is pinchbeck too. Fancy ribbed links with a hook for adjustable length. The golden patina on the whole necklace is just breathtaking! I have never seen anything similar to this necklace and it took me many years to finally let it go...Pendant Size: 2 15/16" long x 2 1/2" wide (75 X 63 mm )Chain Length (from side to side): 19 1/2" (49.5 cm)Condition is really very good – only a couple of surface nicks on the larger lower stone. Very minor, hardly noticed, not disturbing the smooth and shiny surface of the hemisphere, and really does not detract from the beauty of this unique piece. Please see photos (although it really looks much worse in close-up...).A true treasure from the early Art-Nouveau era in England.WORLDWIDE EXPEDITED SHIPPING! 2-7 DAYS DEPENDING ON LOCATION.
