Description: This is a fantastic, genuinely antique mercury glass cake stand. The piece was de-acquisitioned by the Dallas Museum, Old City Park. This venue is a display of homes furnished appropriately for their time-period and socio-economic status. Dates from the late 1800's. Guaranteed old, and not a reproduction. The museum's inventory number appears underneath on the rim (77.64p26). The tazza serving plate unscrews from the footed base to display cement weighting. I believe the neck is silver plated, but since unmarked and unpolished, could be a similar metal such as nickle or German silver. No hallmarks. Condition: Excellent giftable condition. Leaving tarnish on silverplated neck to new owner to polish. One notable air bubble just off center on top. Museum inventory written on underside. Slight mercury erosion under top serving surface glass visible on close inspection. Under serving platform, two spots of fogginess. (note: erosion and fogginess shown in last 5 photos) No chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, cracks, hairlines, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo's. No sickness, discoloration, or residues. Don't feel anything amiss when I run finger around edges. Dimensions: 8.25" tall x 10" top diameter / 6" baseUnpacked weight: 2 lbs. 15.2 oz. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. All dimensions and weights approximate. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
