Description: Here's an authentic 1970 ATLANTA POP FESTIVAL PERFORMER BUTTON from July 4th and 5th, 1970. This is a super nice find, probably one of the very top coolest of all items from this festival.. a genuine vintage APF "PERFORMER" button. I don't know exactly how many of these were made but I do know it's only in the low hundreds. You will likely never see another one of these. They are likely the Holy Grail of collectibles from this festival!! A top keepsake for sure, definitely much nicer than something like a contract and even cooler than a press kit. I doubt it was the one used by Jimi Hendrix, Greg or Duane Allman but anything is possible. Since even Alex Cooley didn't keep anything from this festival (as it turns out, so I read), your best bet may be this one. There probably aren't but a few people that wound up keeping one these over time, as they could easily get lost or tossed unknowingly by someone not familiar years later. It's truly a special touch that this festival did producing these unique looking buttons to the performers and also the matching 'Family' buttons for their friends and family. Not only did this gesture fit the times, it radiated creative coolness.. definitely a lot more class than standard backstage type passes! These were all accounted for, as they were individually numbered. One for each band member. Which performer was associated with this performer button, I don't know as I didn't get those records. I could not even find any information whatsoever about these buttons, nowhere! I have not seen another Performer or Family like this button either. These are that rare!! I did see one but it did not look the same, it was probably from the 1969 festival. This and all of my Atlanta Pop Festival items came from the estate of Tom Kurrus that I obtained in 2019. He was the vice president of Atlanta Pop Festivals Inc., the corporation that was formed to produce this festival and the Texas Pop Festival as well. He was one of the founders and heavily involved in the promotion of the 1969 Festival. He passed away in 2019 and I obtained this and many other items that were found in his storage from a family member as part of his estate. This button is in great condition overall, but as expected does show some aging, light wear, a small scratch and just a tad of blue rubber band residue. It may come off as I already removed a lot of it. The button has a very hard finish, made very durable. Still, I did not want to chance removing the very little that remains but I think it can come off. No need to even bother really, it is still in great shape as is. It's like patina. Purchase with confidence, this is guaranteed to be an original vintage "Performer Button" produced for International Pop Festivals Inc. in 1970. Again, it is EXTREMELY rare to find these buttons, especially the performer button!! I have not seen another and there's none showing up online either.
