Description: For auction is a overlay panel table lamp made by The Bradley & Hubbard Manufacturing Company of Meriden, CT. This pattern is called "Cherries" and it is done in a wonderful arts and crafts design. This lamp has some size to it as it stands 22 1/4" tall to the very top of the finial and the bottom of the base has a diameter of 7 1/16". The shade has a diameter of 18 3/8" from flat side to flat side and 20 1/4" diagonally. This lamp is crafted from experienced craftsmen. This shade displays a skirted geometric shape with an overlay pattern covering the entire shade. There are 3 different overlay patterns that are used in this lamp. The top overlay is that of an Arts & Crafts style rectangular geometric block pattern. The next section is the meat of the pattern in which it has an overlay pattern of leaves and and cherries at the bottom center. The bottom skirt has an overlay pattern or leaves that are inside of a rope border. There are 3 distinct colors of stained glass that the overlay rests over. The top geometric pattern has an avocado green background. The Cherries and leaves overlay has a Teal Blue background. The bottom or skirted area has a green white background. The center panel has the Cherries painted in red so they stand out. This lamp is beautiful when lit.The base is made of heavy cast with a 2 light cluster and satellite pull chains that are in excellent working order. The base has an Art Nouveau style at the bottom round foot and up on the stem is an Arts and Crafts style pattern of a paneled diamond. There is some green applied to the base and is original to the base. The bottom is finished off in a green felt as not to scratch the surface of where it will sit. It has been recently rewired with the reproduction antique brown rayon cord. It still retains its original antique period lamp plug. The base and shade are considered to be in excellent condition as none of the glass is cracked or broken in the shade. The only issue is some of the red paint for the cherries shows signs of wear and is missing in some areas. The base has a good patina and shows minor signs of wear. The base is signed on the side of the top wiring cluster where the sockets are mounted. It reads "Bradley & Hubbard MFG CO" on the outside of the triangle and an anvil inside the triangle. You have to turn the base sideways to read it. I want to point out that this is a very early version of this lamp. It is my belief because the Cherries are painted. Bradley and Hubbard changed this pattern to having a red stained glass insert sit underneath the cherry overlay area. I think because of the paint that could breakdown when cleaned caused them to switch to this method. I have searched the internet high and low as well as looking through dozens of books to verify this exact pattern and I cannot find a match. I have documented the ones with the stained glass for the cherries several times. This leads me to believe this was one of the first ones made this way and very well could be the prototype of the pattern when first introduced into the market. THIS LAMP WILL BE SHIPPED IN 2 SEPARATE BOXES We are professional shippers. This item will be double boxed using Styrofoam sheets to form a casket around the shade and base in separate boxes. This gives added protection but raises the cost on shipping. I also want the buyer to know that we lose 13.25% to Ebay for their commission and cr/card fees. This is also built into these fees. Ebay will deduct $29.82 for their fees out of the $225 charge for shipping. PLEASE READ BELOWI want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July 2020. I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for. They are also now charging all sellers a commission of 12.35% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 12.35%. This is an increase of 9.45% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 12.35% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges. If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy. CLICK ON THIS LINK BELOW TO SEE MY EBAY STORE CLEMENTS ANTIQUES OF NEW HAMPSHIRE STOREFRONT Please wait for my Invoice before paying.
