Description: c 1890 George Grainger & Co (Royal China Works, Worcester) with a blue flower design 22.5 cm cake / serving plate. This glorious, heavily rococo style plate has a beautifully hand painted dahlia in the central well, surrounded by scrolls and swags with highlights in gold and pink border on a crisp white back ground. It is in pristine original antique condition, with no chips, cracks, damage, repairs or restoration that I can identify, there is some mild rubbing to the gold swags and fine discolouration to the front and fine kiln specks to the reverse.Kiln flecks, glaze faults and smudged enamel work are typical of the intensely manual processes of the time and should be expected. The piece is unmarked except for an indecipherable impressed mark to the reverse. I have listed a matching plate with a dahlia flower design separately. I will combine postage for multiple purchases where practical and refund any difference immediately after posting. Ref 1556
