Description: c. 1910s; Goodman & Crutchfield - Cooper County, MO Antique reverse painted glass mercantile sign for a Missouri-based undertaker firm that was in business from 1918-1923. The same company existed for much of the 1900s, but was constantly bought and sold, so its name was ever-changing; this particular incarnation was run by J. Henry Goodman and W. E. Crutchfield. This piece features gilt letters and border against a black field with a red drop shadow to give this flat piece a nice amount of contrast and dimension; it is housed in a painted wooden frame.
