A family history and genealogical presentation of the early settlers of the Holy Rosary Church/Mission near Scotts Mills on Crooked Finger Road (in Marion County, Oregon). The settlers were all immigrants from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, with one exception. Many illustrations from portraits and pictures of these early families, as well as some photographs of the early church and several Benedictine fathers. Accounts of the following families, typically with a short family history of a few paragraphs followed by a list of children with spouses and sometimes grandchildren: Bartnik, Bielenberg, Biersack, Dibala, Engi, Enz, Ettlin, Finnimore, Gersch, Helvey, Hertl, Hettwer, Landwing, Lucier, Niederberger, Plas, Schmidt, Schmitz, Schonbachler, Semolke, Serniotti, Splonskowski-Splonski, Steininger, Tanzer, Toepfer, Waibel, Wellman, and Winter. The first Catholic chapel was built in 1895-1896 by Kasper and Anton Ettlin, on land donated to Mt. Angel Abbey. In 1910, an acre of nearby land was donated for a cemetery. A larger chapel replaced the original one in 1922. It was renamed the Mission of St. Mary in Mt. Angel in 1940.
