Description: Easton Press leather edition of John B. Teeple's "Timelines of World History," a COLLECTOR'S edition, First American Edition, 2002, published in 2003. Bound in hunter green leather, the book has camel tan French moire silk end leaves, hubbed spine, satin book marker, gold gilding on three edges---in FINE condition---except for a 'blank' attached bookplate on second blank page. John B. Teeple, who died in Spring 2002, never saw his book come to print. The project took over fifteen years. The book was prepared to provide a reference which looks at the world as an outsider---as though standing on the moon, a possibility which is no longer the stuff of fantasy. Teeple's book is a lavishly illustrated, chronological record spanning the past twenty thousand years of human history. Teeple traces the progress of humankind from the dawn of history to the twenty-first century. The book covers major historical events, cultural milestones, technological inventions, geographical changes, and key historical figures across different eras and regions of the world. The book discusses the first cities, the monument builders, the Early Middle Ages, Islam and the Crusades, Expansion in the Americas, the Expanding World, 1600-1800, the World in 1900, the Clash of Empires, 1900-1925, 1925-1950, The World between the Wars, 1975-2002, the Modern World. Teeple writes that with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the world grew more dangerous with the rise of rogue states: Cambodia, Libya, Iran, Iraq, North Korea and Serbia. He adds that in 1979, Ayatollah Khomeini overthrew the US-backed government of Iran and imposed a rigorous Islamic rule. He adds that the rapid decolonization of Africa after 1950 destabilized the white government with the gradual loosening of apartheid, led by Nelsen Mandela after his release from prison. This lavishly illustrated reference book will provide hours of reading and quick references. 666 pages. I offer combined shipping. .
