Description: EXC ORIG CHARLIE CHAPLIN THE GOLD RUSH 35MM DATESTRIP TRAILER CLIP (6 CELS/FRAMES) 1942 RE-ISSUE Incredibly rare item for the vintage film collector and Charlie Chaplin buff. Nearly impossible to find 4.5 inch long 35mm B&W filmstrip features six frames from the “datestrip” - a single image promotional trailer - to the all time classic Chaplin film. Based on the image and tag line “the World's Greatest Laughing Picture with Words and Music” this appears to be promoting the 1942 United Artists re-issue of one of the greatest silent films of all time. These “strips” usually ran 10-15 seconds featuring a single unique, striking title card like image (along with musical soundtrack) promoting the upcoming attraction. Such datestrips are very rare (as they were usually discarded after the playdate). GOLD RUSH strip has a great image of Chaplin along with the film's logo and promotional tag. Clip is in pristine condition and ideal for mounting and framing. A true rarity for the golden age movie fan and collector.
