Known as the "Alamo Wing," the 433rd AW is an Air Force Reserve unit specializing in rapid global mobility and strategic airlift. The C-5M, a modernized version of the original C-5 Galaxy, can carry up to 281,000 pounds of cargo, including oversized equipment, helicopters, and even small aircraft. With upgraded avionics, engines, and reliability, the C-5M enables the 433rd to perform critical missions supporting U.S. and allied forces worldwide. Lockheed C-5M Super Galaxy Designed to meet a USAF requirement for a heavy logistics transport, the C-5 was first flown on June 30th, 1968. The t-tail configuration provides unobstructed access to the large rear loading ramp which, in combination with the massive hinged nose, allows for "drive-through" loading and unloading of cargo. The C-5 is one of the largest military aircraft ever built and its cavernous cargo compartment measures 121 feet long by 19 feet wide and 13.5 feet high.
