Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2008) - Stieg Larsson 1st U.S. Edition/1st printing

Description: 𝕯𝖊𝖆𝖗 𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖊𝖗,A bit weathered but here we have a FIRST printing of the FIRST US edition of the of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Alfred. A Knopf, 2008) by Stieg Larsen. Dust Jacket is in very good condition with some shelf wear. Book is in good condition with discoloration on boards, rubbing on edges, soft corners, and the spine is a bit wonky. (I'm still learning my bookseller terminology). The American edition clearly has the best cover design of all the first editions of this book. Did you know the original swedish title was Män som hatar kvinnor, which in english should have read something more like "Men Who Hate Women" but Stieg's first publisher in English (MacLehose Press 2008) somehow convinced him to change titles. How did that conversation go? MacLehose Press: "No Stieg sorry we are not going to release a book called Men Who Hate Women to the british public in 2008. They just aren't ready for it yet. You swedes obviously love women so the title was fine for you guys but . . . uh anyways . . .We are going with *sweeping hand motion* . . . The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo! Well? . . .What do you think? Stieg: Det här är skit. SKIT! I just had this fight with my swedish publisher! The book title affects the audience's perception of the work! Your are ruining my artistic vision! SKIT! MacLehose Press: Yes quite, well sorry old chap! We simply won't release it under "Men Who Hate Women". Oh and also we are going to make Lisbeth's huge badass tattoo into cute little one on her shoulder. You see one of our designers has this great idea for the first edition cover . . . Stieg: *grumble grumble* ynkrygg! Unfortunately the Americans just copied the brits homework and so we all missed out on having Daniel Craig star in a movie called "Men Who Hate Women". At least in the movie version they made her tattoo big again. Thank you David Fincher.Anyways as you can tell I got carried away while writing this description!
