Description: Large, heavy vintage 1980's handmade Italian decorative / ornamental glass vase, presumed to be from Seguso's Scavo collection (please note however that the vase is unsigned and that the original sticker is missing, so attribution is tentative). This is a rough-surfaced ornamental glass with a matte finish imitating antique glass, similar to glass that emerged from archaeological excavations. The effect is achieved by sprinkling the surface of the glowing glass, after shaping it, with a mixture of high-melting oxides and low-melting salts; the outside is thus opaque, while the inside is shiny. Unsigned, the vase stands 14" wide, 11" tall (with the lid) and 7" deep (very heavy). In very good vintage condition (no chips, cracks or flea bites). Some small, but visible imperfections to the outer coating (see pictures). Might or might not be part of the designs process. Provenance: Estate
