B, 15th Kentucky Cavalry on Oct. 6, 1862, and mustered out at Paducah, Ky on Oct. 6, 1863 (a 1-year regiment). He had promotions to 1st Lt. and served as regimental quartermaster as of Dec. 4, 1863.Edward L. Maxwell, enlisted on August 18, 1862 at Paducah, Ky, as captain into Co. F, 15th Kentucky Cavalry and mustered out on Oct. 6, 1863.The 15th Kentucky Cavalry was recruited and organized by Colonel Gabriel Netter, formerly a captain in the 26th Ky. Infantry. While organizing the camp of the 15th Cavalry at Owensboro, a confederate force attacked the camp and Col. Netter was killed in the attack. The regiment was afterwards ordered to Paducah, Kentucky, and remained there in the western part of the state, until June of 1863, when ordered to Spring Creek, Tenn. and there had a brief skirmish with the enemy. It was mustered out in October, 1863.Although the history of this regiment is lackluster, the reference to their issued carbines is of the importance.
