Description: Laughing Anne & One Day Moreby Joseph ConradJohn Castle1924First edition127pp. Please see my other auctions for other rare and antiquarian books. I am downsizing my 30-year collection and have many fine books to sell in the months ahead... Description: With an Introduction by John Galsworthy. 12 mo. "These plays share a common theme - the suffering of a woman capable of self-sacrifice. The fact that they are adaptations from stories makes it the more difficult to answer the usual speculation whether this great novelist could, if he had given his time to the task, have become a great dramatist. In a writing life of thirty years a man has time for much variety. We know that Conrad had a keen dramatic sense; we know -- at least I know -- that he had fitful longings to write for the stage." -- John Galsworthy Dust Jacket Condition: (G+) DJ spine worn with 1/7" loss along top edge and 1/10" loss along bottom; left bottom edge chipped. Front panel has 1/2" chip at top; 1/6" closed tear to top right corner. Rear panel has edgewear along top including 1/8" chip. Book Condition: (VG) Green binding with bright gilt titling. Binding firm and book appears unread, though binding may have been opened too widely at half title page (still holding though). We always ship in a box carefully bubble-wrapped and protected so that it reaches you in exactly the condition in which it left us.
