Description: Early? Vintage JOTUL cast iron press for krumkake, pizzelle, crepes, maybe even a taco. Some listings say for waffles, but I have never seen a waffle that is only about an eighth of a inch thick. When the two halves are closed, the outer rings only allow for about 1/8" gap. (Pizzelles and tacos are not "native" to Norway region, but at least they are similar in size and shape.) Looking at the handles, it seems that this is an older version. Note that many of the ones I see online have solid "bakelite" handles. This press has three layer handles with rivets. (My guess is that the metal rivets did not provide the best heat isolation for the hand when picked up, so I am guessing that the solid handle style is a later production improvement. Since Jotul was a wood stove manufacturer, it also appears that the outer edges are formed to allow the press to sit inside one of the openings in the stove top in the same way that the cast iron "teapots" were made to fit down into the wood stove surface opening. This press appears in good condition, Again, I assume that the ends of the handles are apart to allow the user to "press" the halves together. Please be sure this is the correct item for your need.
