Description: For Sale here is the Flying Star card from the Turbo Jet Plane series that was issue by Kelloggs Company of Canada during 1948. Each plane was printed on the backs of their brands of PEP cereal boxes and then could be cut out by the parent or child to be used as a toy. Inside the box of cereal was the key piece to the toy which was the aluminum metal wing that you needed to make the cut out plane fly. The instructions are printed in both English and French. This series was also put out in the United States by Kellogg’s with English only instruction and is listed in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue as series F273-73. I have not found the Canadian version catalogued in any guide that I am aware of. The card back is blank as it was issued. What is strange is that these cards have different listings for the names of the planes in the series, so I am unsure of exactly how many are in the series. This one features the CLOUD KING Plane. The Card measures 6 inches by 8 inches approximately (they are hand cut so precise measurements are difficult) . It does have a few edge wrinkles. I have scanned the front of the card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself . I have taken a separate picture of the aluminum wing as it shows up as dark on the scan for some reason and I wanted to show it is shiny silver like chrome as seen in the picture. These are a scarce issue . Most kids would have cut these out and used them as toys (usually thrown out after awhile). I imagine not many survived intact over the 75 years, and as an ADDED BONUS THIS ONE COMES WITH IT’S ALUMINUM WING. That rarely survives. Due to the lower population in Canada than in the US or the UK, print runs in Canada were much smaller compared with American or British Cards. Because of this the majority of all Canadian non sports cards are far scarcer than card issued in the USA and UK. I have others from this series currently listed on ebay I will be trying to list several EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days (spread across different categories), including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Cigarettes , Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States, NCAA and IVY League Colleges and Universities, Dog Breeds, Circus themes and many more. To view the other cards I have up on ebay please click on the “View Sellers other Items” Icon located on this page. It will take you directly to them. Due to my work schedule and distance to the post office I am only able to ship Monday Mornings.
