Requires 2 AA batteries. I removed two corroded batteries, cleaned the compartment do not have as yet two new ones to check to see if it will light. I filled with water to test the pump. Pump did run but no water pumped. I suspect that the lines have clogged up with dirt over the years from a lack of use. We did buy this new, an Avon product I believe and it did work great and have no reason to believe that with a little TLC and patience this wonderland can once again come to life. Retired or have some time on you hands. Get this fountain and set out on a mission to once again light the world.
