Description: Offered for sale is a 2 gallon ovoid stoneware jug produced by the pottery of Mack Webster and Son, Hartford, 1840-1857. (Interesting note: it seems that in the initial stamping of the maker's mark, the "W" of Webster didn't take and in the attempt to stamp a single "W" the letter was applied upside down. Thus we have "M C Mebster & Son.") The jug has a sand-color salt glaze with cobalt highlights. There is a kiln kiss below the mark and a flake off the rim and base while the jug is solid. It stands at 13 1/2 inches and is 9 3/4 inches at the widest point. Shipping is by USPS Ground Advantage insured, and there is no handling charge. I invite you to view other items I have listed. Thanks for looking, and enjoy the hunt.
