Description: Melbourne Centenary Jug A jug issued for the Melbourne Centenary of 1934, made by William Adams & Sons of Tunstall, England and produced expressly for The Mutual Store Ltd., Melbourne as a limited edition of 200 of which this is 188. In very good vintage condition, with no crazing, chips or cracks. A few tiny spots of glaze loss on the upper rim, see photos. A consistent tone when tapped. This jug was one of a range of souvenirs produced in 1934-35 to commemorate the centenary of white settlement in Victoria. It shows the change in the Melbourne’s landscape over 100 years, picking up the theme of progress from wilderness to urbanization – the predominant theme of the centenary. This was one of the more expensive souvenirs of Melbourne’s centenary. Size: 25 cm high, 20 x 15.5 cm; weight is 1.2 Kg. Please examine the pictures, they complete the description. While I do my best to reproduce the true colours of the pieces, they will vary slightly from system to system, and in actual viewing they will vary under differing lighting. All white spots are purely light reflections from the camera flash. Shipping: tracking worldwide via Australia Post.
