It is pre-owned but I don't know if it was ever used for anything but decor. I don't know the exact age of the item but I do know my sister purchased it in 1993. The design is Porsgrund Hearts and Pines which is a Scandinavian design from Norway. The red hearts with green pine and red berries make it great for Christmas but it could be used at any time of year. This is a discontinued item.
