Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Here we have a set of three rare American yellow ware custard cups dating from the mid-1800’s. These custards are cone-shaped and are very finely molded with thin walls. The interior of these have a brilliant white glaze that, at the time, was thought to make them more sanitary. This belief originated in England and spread to the U.S. during the 1850’s. This custard measures 3 ¼” in diameter by 2 ¼” high. A photo of this custard can be found on page 63 in Lisa McAllister's Book I, Collector's Guide to Yellow Ware. Two of the custards are in original mint condition, the third has a fine line on the side. These custards are rarely found in any condition and are highly collectable.
