Please excuse any glare in the photos. This Sierra Nevada mountain landscape depicts a stand of pine trees near Kit Carson Lodge at Silver Lake. The watercolor is matted but not framed. The sight area within the mat measures approximately 10 inches by 13 inches (the paper is slightly larger). The exterior mat measurements are approximately 16 inches by 20 inches. This would be a fine addition to a collection of California watercolors. Identification This painting is by Robert Reynolds (1936-), a California artist, with a listing on askART. At the lower right, it is titled, "KIT CARSON / SILVER LAKE." This piece is not dated. Per askART, Reynolds specializes in representational California landscapes. The California coast is a favorite subject, including the Morro Bay estuary. He also paints grape vineyards and the High Sierra mountains. Reynolds has also painted public gardens located throughout England. His focus is on watercolor paintings, but he also works in acrylics. Condition This matted but unframed piece looks very good overall, as shown. The watercolor paper has slight rippling, as is common for this medium. The mat has a few light, scattered marks, which do not detract. The back side is as shown. In my opinion, this piece is ready to frame and enjoy.
