Description: The postcard shows the high altar at San Xavier del Bac Mission in Tucson, Arizona. The altar is made of burned brick covered with gilded and polychromed plaster ornamentation. The settlement was discovered in 1692 and the first chapel was constructed in 1700 by Father Kino. The present church was built by Franciscans between 1783-1797.
