Description: Hello, thank you for your interest in this item. You will receive, in a compostable envelope, enough media to make 1 gallon of nutrient for Spirulina. It's a very simple, very easy, 2 step equation. 1) Dissolve entire contents into 1 gallon of filtered (optionally warm) water (preferably reverse osmosis or distilled, but if you must use tap, allow it to sit out for 1 day), and stir or shake well. 2) Allow to cool, and then decant the mixture, leaving any undissolved solids behind. The media is now ready to use, and can be stored practically indefinitely until ready to use. For optimum growth, keep your spirulina happy by giving it what it needs.Temp: 30-35C (86-95) is optimal, but can survive between 22-38 (71-100)pH: 10.5-11CO2: An air stone works excellently, but you can also agitate twice daily. Ideal pH is 10.5-11. Brix: Between 1-2. Helpful tools: A refractometer (measures salinity), a simple aquarium heater, an aquarium pump with air stones, a clear glass or plastic vessel, and pH strips or a pH digital reader, and LED lights if growing indoors are useful. a 25-35 micron filter is also useful in harvesting. Helpful Hints: After filtering, Be sure to rinse with filtered water to remove any potential inorganic minerals from the growth media before consuming the spirulina.
