Description: From 1949 to 1955, George S. Canon operated George's Gateway Club, between the California state line and the Wagon Wheel Saloon along U.S. Highway 50. In 1952, E. N. Reinburg opened Dopey Norman's bar at the end of the building at the state line, and in 1953 it became Tony's Slot Machine Bar, operated by Anthony Grech. In 1955, George Canon sold the Gateway Club to Bill Harrah, and it became Harrah's Club.
