There are many names for this crocheted or knitted garment garment from the basic: sontag, spencer, habit shirt, and cross-over shawl, to the more whimsical; bosom friend or hear-warmer. They all refer to a garment that is worn on the upper body. These were often of the "wrap around" variety known as sontags. However, there were several other styles that buttoned down the front." The booklet contains a pattern for a Hug-Me-Tight which can be adjusted to fit any size from girl to plus size. Also included are general instructions: Abbreviations and Stitches; Gauge; How to Make a Tassel; To Make a Drawstring; and washing instructions.
