Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a nice older late 1950's early 60's Shure 520SL microphone with an original magnetic controlled transducer set at high impedance that was originally intended as "general purpose" mics that was often used for dispatch and other communications and can still be used for such. The 520SL has a very dirty, distinct & muddy sound sought after by harp players while using the harmonica. The mic has a very "rockabilly" sound in nature giving many musicians that 30's - 50's experience. This mic comes with a nice Belden cable in which to operate. Pic # 2 is from an old advertisement showing the mics basic characteristics. As you can see this mic is not the prettiest example as the original paint is pretty well used but the front satin chrome grill is quite nice as is the inner black screen. The metal body is free of any fractures or dents however and the Shure label is still completely legible. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. The original controlled magnetic element is still inside the mic housing and again, 100% signal. Element is properly grounded with zero issues. I took a pic of the element before placing back as seen in pic # 11. The mic can be screwed onto any desk or floor stand you have if needed as it has the universal threading. If you use the harmonica this mic will grip in the hand easily and it's very easy to cup. Once cupped the sound really explodes but the signal strength on it's own is impressive enough. Again, the mic comes with the 8 foot Belden cable that's in excellent condition. Soft, pliable and has the standard male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers. You have everything you need. Will make a very fun mic to use for many situations. If you can get past the obvious physical wear then you'll be quite pleased with the tone of this mic.
