Description: ***********While the manual wind movement runs strong it loses about a minute by the end of its approximate 45 hour power reserve period. The crown will occasionally squeak when the time is being set and when it's being wound. Given the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This seldom seen vintage 1970's Airain, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a pristine black/orange dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The orange/gray bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear and brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATERPROOF | STAINLESS STEEL BACK | ANTIMAGNETIC" with "100% WATERPROOF" and "595186" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal needs to be replaced. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this watch is torqued too tight for me to remove. The 17 jewels manual wind movement with semi-quickset date function runs strong, albeit a smidge slow, and the red date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 22 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the brassed, non-screwdown crown 27 full revolutions the movement ran about a minute slow by the end of its approximate 45 hour power reserve period. The crown, which winds smoothly, will occasionally squeak when the time is being set and when it's being wound. Given the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm. Given the movement runs a smidge slow, the crown occasionally squeaks and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 13 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
