Description: This Guild D-55 came to us from its original owner! An incredible dreadnought featuring ornate inlays, a comfy 3-piece Mahogany/Maple neck with a full "C" neck that feels great, a solid Spruce top, and a solid Indian Rosewood body with a beautiful grain pattern. Super well taken care of with some checking, a small binding crack, and typical dings and scuffing for a guitar of this vintage. There is one repaired back crack. Sounds awesome with a full, rich sound producing massive low-end, sweet midrange, present high-end, and impressive projection. The action is nice and low with no buzzes. A killer vintage Guild! Includes original hardshell case. There is one modification. There is a contact pickup under the bridge and it's screwed on under the saddle and through the bridge. As a result, there are two very small round cutouts on the saddle channel for the screws. See the last picture. This in no way affects the stability of the guitar. The saddle is perfectly seated and the bridge is secure. The pickup works. For guitar fans, the Guild D-55 is THE classic top-class dreadnought. (Dare we say Iconic?) It was first produced as a custom shop order in 1968 and, after years of great success and strong demand, was added to the standard range in 1974. The D-55 quickly gained popularity for its outstanding craftsmanship and impressive tonal qualities. The D-55 is a dreadnought-style guitar, known for its large and powerful sound, making it a preferred choice for players looking for a robust and resonant sound. The guitar features a solid spruce top, solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, and an ebony fingerboard, contributing to its rich and balanced tone. Over the years, the Guild D-55 has maintained its reputation as a premium acoustic guitar beloved by professionals and enthusiasts alike. For decades, the Guild D-55 has been used by many well-known artists as a stage and studio instrument. Including Timmy Smothers (Smothers Brothers Show), Waylon Jennings, Billy Joe Armstrong and David Nail. Ships in original hard case also in excellent condition.
