Description: Vintage Bulova Oceanographer 'H' model from 1968 with the rare 'Super Waterproof' styling on the dial. This was a rare production year as partway through 1968, Bulova (along with all other watchmakers) was banned from advertising their watches as 'waterproof' and forced to alter their phrasing to 'water resistant'. The marketing on these Oceanographer models was thus changed to 'Water Resistant to 333 feet' in the latter half of 1968, leading to development of the famed 'Devil Diver' 666 feet diving watch. As a 1968-model Oceanographer, this would have been one of the last Bulova watches to bear the 'Super Waterproof' signature on the dial. As you can see from the photos, there are some small scratches on the dial and the gold plating shows some wear on the sides and back of the case, but the watch is overall in very good condition for its age. Has the signed Bulova crown and a brand-new black leather strap. Most importantly, the automatic movement is running and kept good time when I tested it for 19 hours. Service history is unknown, and it would undoubtedly benefit from a tune-up with a watchmaker, but as best as I could tell it appears to be in good working condition. Really cool piece if you're into vintage dive watches!
